Aashiqui 2 is a romantic, drama movie released in 2016. It was directed by Mohit Suri and has Asha Bhat among others in the cast. Aashiqui 2 has received mixed reviews from moviegoers. The story of Aashiqui 2 is narrated through the perspective of four different characters - Aditya (Ranveer Singh), Vidya (Madhuri Dixit) , Rohan (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and Tanvi Seth (Sidharth Malhotra). These are all told to be true events that happened thirteen years ago, thirteen years before the film could be set. Songs of Aashiqui 2 are sung by Alka Yagnik, the songs include Raat Ke Raavan, Jhoom, Sapney Haseen Sapney Haseen. The film revolves around Aditya (Ranbir Kapoor) who leaves his Gujarat hometown at an early age to move in with his father in Delhi. He attends Delhi Public School and meets Vidya (Asha Bhat). He moves on with life when he starts working for Laxmi when she takes over the business of her late father, Ramesh (Shreyas Talpade). While Aditya is busy with the business, Vidya has settled in with her life by marrying Rohan (Aditya Roy Kapur) who is the younger son of her father's friend. Both are denied having married each other in their mid-50s due to depression. Aditya falls in love with Tanvi (Sidharth Malhotra) after they meet on a train while he is returning home to celebrate his wedding anniversary with his wife Laxmi (Chunky Pandey). He reveals that he doesn't love Laxmi but only wanted her for her huge property. He hides this fact from Tanvi and asks her for another chance at love which she refuses. Aditya collaborates with a friend on a spreadsheet to find a way of meeting Tanvi through a computer program which is nearly identical to the girlfriend programme of his business; whereby, if the algorithm is done correctly, will be able to provide him with the right partner. Aditya hires Tanvi as his secretary and tries to impress her by telling her urban legends about the elevators upstairs at their office. He begins showing Tanvi how he does business and creates opportunities by making people fall in love with each other for money. At one point, Vidya calls him and asks him to come back since he still has her name on his heart. Laxmi is on the top floor and has given her namaste (good bye) to Aditya and his wife. He is unsure of what to do with his feelings for Laxmi which he tries to hide from Tanvi. Tanvi confesses that she is in love with Aditya knowing that he loves Laxmi. She then tells him that she replaced his company's CEO who had left the company after being thrown out by Ramesh with a new CEO who comes from a different country. Aditya questions her about it but she denies anything being wrong with this new company or its CEO, so he leaves it at that and proceeds with business as usual.
